Congressman Roddenberg, a distinguished statesman from the Southwest Georgia region, died peacefully in the afternoon while his family was at his bedside. Doctors had given up hope earlier, and the end came without suffering.
Seaborn Anderson Roddenbery born 1870 on a Decatur County farm rose from teacher and lawyer to judge and Thomasville mayor before winning a seat in the Georgia Legislature and later the U.S. Congress. He died suddenly at 5:42 PM surrounded by family. funeral planned for Sunday at his Hansell Street home.
Washington September 25 Secretary of the Navy Daniels ordered the elementary course in Academic training at naval stations extended from three to four months. He says current methods do not provide adequate training and will extend to six months where apprentices are exceptionally backward when practicable.

Douglas Arizona September 25 Sosepa Slatter a pawn broker was arrested on a charge of violating the neutrality laws. Ten thousand cartridges were seized. Other shipments of munitions will be seized and more arrests will follow authorities said United States District Attorney Morrison indicated that shipments showing intent to export would be a violation of the neutrality laws.

Hooper Alexander of Atlanta was nominated today for the United States District Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia in Washington. The nomination comes as Atlanta figures in the district attorney selection process today.
Secretary of Agriculture David F. Houston will send letters to about twenty leading farms in each of 2800 counties asking farmwomen to advise on how the department can best serve their needs. Return envelopes accompany the letters, with responses due by November, aiming to capture views from over 500,000 women.
Mrs W L Howell was found dead Wednesday by her daughter Eleanor in their Broad Street home after breakfast. A physician cited heart failure.
