Georgia auction results show slaughter steers and cows varying by class, with calves strong and feeders solid. Prices range across stocker, utility, and butcher categories, while poultry and produce markets list mixed results and regional notes from Atlanta and nearby markets.
Ed Maulden of Leighton Alabama told a committee that a substitution clause in this year's program lets exporters use domestic cotton for export sales and set prices up to 160 cents per pound. J F Cook of the Federal Cotton Stabilization Corp Washington said the program, blamed for current shortages, rewards buying from exporters and reselling on the open market with price adjustments.
Funeral services for Hon. Hugh J. MacIntyre emeritus of the Georgia Court of Appeals are set for 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill cemetery with an honorary escort from Georgia appellate and supreme court members and Presbyterian church elders.

Starkville Mississippi Sen James Eastland says the South is making headway on integration while warning that recent state actions in Kentucky and Tennessee set a dangerous precedent. He cited use of police power to preserve segregation and praised Texas Gov. Allen Shivers as a model for preventing riots. Eastland also touted his leadership in the Senate Judiciary Committee against civil rights legislation.
The FBI and Manhattan prosecutors hunt Theodore Rij, 43, a close associate of racketeer John Dio Dioguardi, in the acid attack on labor columnist Victor Riesel. Rij, once with Acme Dress Co. of Midvale New Jersey, may have driven the getaway auto and is charged with conspiring to obstruct justice.
Mrs. Margaret M. Whitaker Anderson age 70 died yesterday at her daughter Mrs. L R Wells Sr Route 3 Thomasville. Funeral services set for 2 p m Wednesday at the Chapel of Stiffler Hamby Mortuary Forsyth in Columbus. Burial in Park Hill Cemetery Columbus with pallbearers from Beychton and Cairo.

Craigmiles called on court officials and spectators to observe a moment of silence for the late Judge H. as Macintyre, honoring his service to the Georgia Court of Appeals.
City police barracks were almost deserted today with only one prisoner being held, a man picked up last night in a drunken condition. The culprit was not violent or disorderly and the barracks cooled his ardor. City firemen enjoyed a night’s sleep with no alarms.

Twelve volunteers attended an orientation and doctrination meeting at the VA Domiciliary to prepare for service in the VAVS program. Joe Boyd was installed president of the Brotherhood of the First Baptist Church during last night’s service led by outgoing president Lorenzo Acevedo. Also installed were Perry Pittman as membership VP Grover Newton as program VP M Ad Morton as activities VP and George Clark as secretary. The Rev. Lewis Kennedy pastor, was installed and the Fisher Chorus performed two numbers with O K Radford executive secretary of the state Training Union speaking. Supper preceded the meeting.
