Soil Conservation Progress In Brooks County 1945 Review
Brooks County reports strong gains from soil and water conservation programs under the Middle South Georgia Conservation District. By 1945 Terraces reached 371 miles with 93,036 acres mapped, 377 acres planted in Kudzu and 293 acres in lespedesa sericea. Farmers planted 75,000 pounds crimson clover and 200,000 pounds blue lupine last fall. More than 600 farmers attended pasture and beef cattle sessions at Abraham Baldwin College and Quincy Experiment Station to learn about permanent pastures and conservation practices.
