Hearings recessed on Southern Bell rate hike in Georgia
The Georgia Public Service Commission recessed its hearings on Southern Bell Telephone Co. rate increase until Oct. 4 delaying a decision on higher service charges. If approved, residential private line rates in Thomasville would rise from 6.55 to 7.95 monthly, and business lines from 13.55 to 16.95. The proposal includes payphone moves to 25 cents and other savings measures to offset costs.
