Quitman Georgia November 2 The wife of the pastor of the Shinn Memorial Methodist church in Chattanooga Tennessee Mrs John W Rowlett 72 died suddenly here yesterday after a heart attack She was in Quitman to promote anti tuberculosis work in which she was engaged.
Chicago November 28 The Chicago stockyards remain shut by a live stock handlers strike as pickets crowd entrances and trucks stay away. A temporary truce allowed unloading by volunteers but lapsed at 8 AM. An arbitration board will hear the strikers side this afternoon while major packers Swift Wilson Armour and Cullahy operate with their own crews.
President Roosevelt’s gold buying plan received a boost as the RFC offered 33.85 dollars per ounce for newly mined domestic gold, nine cents above yesterday. London opened at 32 dollars, while the dollar and government bonds moved after a week of price stability. Morgenthau said the daily price would be his only comment on the monetary program. Governor Eugene Black of the Federal Reserve Board left Warm Springs amid talk of possible policy shifts but offered no remarks.
Atlanta state highway board notes its general office administrative expenses for August October 1933 totaled 37,759.66 less than the same three months in 1932. The statement cites year over year savings as the board extends efficiency gains.

State troops sent by Gov Albert C Ritchie to arrest nine Princess Anne lynching suspects evacuated the Salisbury armory and began return to Baltimore after a mob of about 1000 attacked the building with tear gas and bayonets. Four arrestees were taken along. tear gas and crowd pressure failed to halt the assault. Brig Gen Milton Reckord urged order as the crowd jeered and pressed forward.

After Chairman Mangham’s resignation the State Road Board issued a call for bids totaling 900000 dollars for nine paving projects, five grading jobs, and one bridge. Bids open December 14 covering routes from Dublin Swainsboro to Norcross Buford and dozens of counties including Emanuel, Henry, Brooks, Calhoun, Wayne, McDuffie, Newton, Gwinnett, Webster, Talbot, Gilmer and more.
