Nostalgic reader seeks a stovetop pumpkin pie filling recipe and receives a version cooked on the range then poured into a baked shell. The recipe uses cornstarch, spices, eggs, pumpkin, and milk, with a note to stir in a figure eight and chill before serving with whipped cream. Garnish with pecans if desired.
Bridge Club meets at 7 30 p m today at the Thomas County Federal Building. Last week's North South winners were Mrs Mamie Johnson and Mrs Ralph Proctor first, Mr and Mrs Albert Pepe and Mr Les Harter with R Williams third. East West winners were Gene Speight and Mrs Helen Fahy first Olive Crawford and Mrs Paul Lampoon second and Mrs W W Alexander and Mrs Harry Brown third. Next meeting is the third at the Scott Hotel. Christmas party starts December 4 at Scott Hotel with cocktails at 5 p m and dinner at 6 p m. Director Dectte Lawes serves as organizer. Party is free for members and costs 0 for visitors.
Mrs J L Cook of Thomasville recently returned from Columbus where she visited her daughter in law Mrs Thomas H Cook. Her son Thomas Hulon Cook is serving in Vietnam.
Balfour Elementary celebrates American Education Week November 10 to 16 with a Veterans Day program on November 11 featuring Jim Ross and Dr. Jon D. Rawlings. Mrs. Crosby's third grade showcased veterans and color slides from Jim Ross. Visitors toured classrooms on November 19. The library hosted a tea and performances by nine library assistants during National Children’s Book Week.
