Thomasville Thomas County Community Chest reports 74 500 raised toward a 144 000 goal for 1971 72. President Hershel Clay expressed optimism the drive will meet the target despite missing the Nov 15 wrap up. He highlighted the Employee Payroll Contribution Plan as key to future campaigns.
Community Chest leader Clay reports a dramatic rise in donations driven by a payroll contribution plan within Davis Industries. With 165 of 496 firms contacted, the Business and Industry division has raised $49,094.95, while other divisions race to complete their outreach before year end to reach a $144,000 goal for 1971/72.
The new quarter system launches at Douglass Middle School and Thomasville High School this Monday. Superintendent Garfield Wilson and teachers say the 12 week quarters offer flexible course changes and broader options, with library guides and catalogs aiding parents and students.
