Ambassador Sumner Welles said he would fly from Havana to meet President Roosevelt to discuss the Cuban situation. He expected to see Roosevelt Sunday and may visit Washington briefly before returning to Havana.
The Daily News reports Alfred E. Smith’s White House visit with President Roosevelt could trigger major personnel shifts. It says William H. Woodin would resign as Treasury secretary with John J. Rasumson? Ras kob as his successor and Jesse Isidor Straus would be replaced by Royal S. Copeland as ambassador to France.
Barney Ross defends lightweight title against Sammy Fuller in a 10 round bout at Chicago Stadium tomorrow night. It will be Ross first Chicago appearance since winning the lightweight titles from Tony Canzoneri last June and marks the venue’s season opener.

Rome observers note cabinet may back Rome talks among France Italy Germany and Britain if pre talks are prepared, following Mussolini's recent stance.
