Wall Street showed mixed moves with rails gaining on the wheat sale to Russia prospects. The APverages rose at noon as rail stocks led, with notable gains for Baltimore & Ohio and others while several high flyers retraced. Airlines edged higher, auto makers slipped, and overall market liquidity remained cautious amid profit-taking.
Thomasville man, born September 24, 1924, dies. Survived by mother Mrs. J L Turner, wife Margaret Normar Turner, three sons Harry Scott, Benjamin Coale, Joe Norman Turner, a daughter Nell Wittmere Turner, brother John L Turner III, sister Mrs Frank Halt, and grandmother Mrs John L Varnes. Burial and pallbearers listed with local and regional attendees. He was a World War II veteran and former member of several local organizations.
Hog receipts at Thomasville and other plants steady to 25 cents lower from last Friday. Prices listed for U S hogs across weight classes in Georgia and Chicago ranges, with sows, gilts, and barrows noted. Georgia cattle unavailable due to holiday. Georgia live poultry and farm quotations provided for broilers, fryers, and hens with farm and plant prices.
Atlanta markets show produce prices for cabbage fifty pound loag round type at 1.60, sweet potatoes 3.25 to 3.50 per bush, turnips 1.50, collards 1.25 to 1.50 per dozen, turnip and mustard greens 1.26 to 1.50 per dozen, snap beans 8.25 to 3.50, pole beans 3.60 to 4.00, yellow crookneck squash 5.00 to 5.50, colored butter beans 2.60 to 3.25, white beans 3.25, cucumbers 2.50 to 3.00, Georgia eggplant 2.75 to 3.00 per bushel.
A U.S. Army convoy of 13 vehicles and 54 men moved from Berlin into West Germany today. It passed the East German checkpoint despite Soviet efforts to loosen autobahn controls. The group arrived in West Germany at midafternoon after leaving Berlin in the morning.
Funeral services for Lloyd Austin of 285 Second Ave will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Harris officiating. Burial will follow in Linkola Cemetery. Hadley Funeral Home in charge. He died November 9 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. He was a gardener employed about 20 years at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Balfour Jr.

The American Red Cross Bloodmobile visits the city and needs at least 145 donors to ensure success. Prospective donors may go to the Bloodmobile at Health lent al Irhome and devens Streets until 6 30 p m.
London officials launch a $420,000 drive to scrub soot from St Pauls Cathedral. C James Harman says cleaning will restore the white stone to its original look as Sir Christopher Wren finished it in 1710.
The Supreme Court refused to hear Billy Ferguson’s appeal after he was thrice tried and sentenced to death for a Douglasville murder. Ferguson, arrested July 17 1958, had his conviction upheld by the Georgia Supreme Court on May 9 1963. He argued the use of seized articles and juror bias denied him a fair trial.
