In midtown Havana soldiers and civilian snipers clashed for about ninety minutes at 11:30 am causing motorists and pedestrians to flee to cover. The day had been relatively quiet before renewed shootings and house to house searches for armed radicals followed the prior Azares battle.
News from Havana reports ongoing dissident activity as government forces clash with rebels in Matagua Santa Clara and Oriente. Four rebels were captured and one wounded in Matagua after exchanges with army units. authorities plan to publish lists of dead and wounded to inform relatives.
