New York AP reports the noon Dow Jones industrials fell 3.28 to 837.11 as declines edged advances on the NYSE. Brokers note many investors stayed on the sidelines awaiting market direction and expected Phase 2 Pay Board and Price Commission rulings this week.
Harris Upham & Company Inc Tallahassee Florida provides stock prices as a member of the New York Stock Exchange. The notice lists current quotations and market activity for listed securities.
Thomasville reports 2,300 receipts, down from 2,600 last Friday. Slaughter steers 28.00-29.50, heifers 24.50-27.50, cows 16.50-24.00, bulls 25.00-27.00, calves 31.00-36.00, feeders and other fattened stock priced by weight with multiple grade ranges. Atlanta notes follow with broilers, eggs, and fruit market activity.
Hog receipts in Georgia Florida and Alabama show barrows and gilts mostly steady with 4 600 hogs reported. Sales on plant delivered basis list US 1 and 2 at 200 to 230 pounds from 19 00 to 19 25 with larger lots at 19 50. 190 to 240 pound ranges 18 25 to 19 00 and 240 to 270 pound ranges 17 75 to 18 50.
The Bloodmobile will be in Thomasville on Tuesday 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Parrish Hall St Thomas Episcopal Church. Chairman Bob Leicht says the goal is 135 pints with 500 of 1350 pints projected for 1971 72. Donors registering Tuesday receive a chance to win a 12 pound turkey in a 6 30 p.m. drawing.
Jewel Thomas Barrett a 36 year old Cairo resident died in Archbold Memorial Hospital after a morning ER visit. Lynn B. Kirkland called the death an apparent self inflicted case and an investigation was set for 3 pm. The body was found on a sidewalk beneath a third story window near the hospital's mental health center by a hospital employee who heard a strange noise.
In Flint Michigan a 17 year old girl Kathleen Ann Gilbert was killed by a man who ignored her pleas for mercy as about 20 social club members of the Satanical Angels gathered at a deserted house to discuss punishing the victim. Two men Raymond Humbel and Lee Musser were arrested for murder though the killer remains at large.
The Twin Cities Campus Assembly approved a proposal to establish a department of Chicano studies at the University of Minnesota. The vote was five in favor on a roll call, chaired by University President Malcolm Moos. Francisco Rosales of the Latin Liberation Front said students support the new department. The assembly comprises 60 students and 125 faculty from the St Paul and Minneapolis campuses.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy protests a bill designating Andersonville prison camp in Georgia as a national historic site. They argue federal propaganda will shape the site and seek repeal or halting of funding until Southern groups can place markers. The site holds over 12,000 graves from 30,000 Union prisoners in 1612 acres.
The final week of qualifying for Thomasville's city general election on December 7 began with minister T Reid Lawrence of 421 Calhoun St entering the City Commission race for Post 1. Incumbent Jack Bracey already holds Post 1, while Posts 2 and 5 have unopposed candidates W F Scott Jr and Tom Faircloth. No new entries in the school board race.

Lily bulb arrivals and fall planting are advised along with soil drainage and root-zone fertilizing. Mrs. Eula D Bettison 84 died in Pelham after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Parker officiating and burial in the church cemetery. Survivors include son Joseph B Bettison of Tampa and daughters Mrs Hurbert Long Pelham Mrs Lawrence Hutto Camilla and Mrs William Yates Perrine plus brothers Tom and Troy Glover and sisters Mrs Levi Barfield Mrs Charlie Gainous and Mrs Floyd Oliver.
S.Sgt. John Sexton Jr. of Warren Michigan says Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora Colorado keeps him under tighter guard than in enemy hands. He is treated for malnutrition and injuries from captivity and complains about limited contact with others and the presence of an Army guard at his room. He sought access to Dallas financier H Ross Perot and was briefly allowed to visit other patients with a nurse. His father notes a guard remains outside the room and two years passed before his release after coup attempts.
A 1967 Mack diesel tandem dump truck owned by Southern Land Company of Thomasville is missing from 305 Old Albany Rd. The white truck bears red company lettering and the license PG 3358. Call L. C. Chastain Jr or authorities with information about the theft.
