Two Jews, members of the Stern Gang, confessed to the assassination of Lord Moyne the British resident minister in the Middle East. They said they came to Egypt to kill the diplomat and acted on orders from the Fighters for Freedom of Israel Organization.
In Occupied Germany, Oct 30, Allied forces mounted a stabbing advance against the Siegfried line near Aachen. A coordinated team effort by 34 medium tanks 17 light tanks 4 tank destroyers 1200 infantry and 200 engineers destroyed 77 Nazi pillboxes in three days of steady assault amid heavy German artillery fire.

Funeral services were held at First Methodist Church Bainbridge for Grady H Forrester Jr five year old son of Mr and Mrs G H Forrester of Water street The child died Saturday from tetanus caused by a splinter in his foot Interment was in Oak City Cemetery Pallbearers included Sgt C B Gibson Elton Gurn Milton Woodbury and Sgt David W Pettis Survivors are the parents two brothers Leverghe and Ray Forrester and grandparents Mr and Mrs W N Giles of Bainbridge The ceremony was conducted by Rev H H Heisler assisted by Rev J E Ward and Rev H H Shell The October term Grand Jury list for the Superior Court is included.
Clarence F Bates of Bainbridge resigns after nine years as health engineer with the Decatur County Health Department. He will become agent for the Great Southern Trucking Company in Bainbridge, moving from hotel work and joining the department during its growth years. His new office is in the Petroleum Carrier Corporation warehouse.
Bainbridge Ga Nov 8 The November term of Decatur Superior Court will convene November 13 at Bainbridge. Meigs visited the area Saturday with local residents. Miss Janice Parker returned to Columbus after a brief visit to relatives in town and Thomasville. Mr and Mrs W Roberts visited Thomasville Sunday. Mr and Mrs Herman Tyler of Americus stayed in town with friends Sunday.

Quitman Ga November 8 Brok county boys in the service continue to win decorations medals and citations on the fighting fronts of the world This week the Air Medal was awarded to Lieutenant James
Lieutenant Henry Parrish of this county and Glynn Elis of Quitman are cited for bravery and skill. Parrish, supply officer at Air Force heads, received the Bronze Star for service in the European theater. Elis, a tail gunner on a bomber, is part of a Bombardment Group praised by the president for bombing German targets. Both are sons of local families, with Parrish son of Rev and Mrs H Hy Parrish and Elis daughter of Mrs Ruth B Williams.
