In Meigs Georgia on Monday night the automobile of Possum Cox burned when a car switch is blamed. Cox his wife and son were returning from a show when the blaze began and the inside of the car was destroyed. No injuries occurred and Cox says he had no insurance on the vehicle.
Friends report Miss Myrtle Roberts recovering well from an appendix operation at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. Family and friends hope her progress continues and she will soon resume normal activities.
Forty eight seamen are missing after a British merchant vessel sank eight miles offshore in the St Lawrence River following a sequence of unexplained explosions. Seventeen crew members on deck escaped in a lifeboat and reached Petia Matance at daybreak.
