Cleveland May 28 The Republic Steel Corp blast furnace in the southeast area was officially lighted today five weeks ahead of schedule. The company says 119 days passed from January 30 when the first steel was swung into position to today. A new coke ovens battery boiler plant generating unit a three mile long 60 inch water line and other equipment will also be developed with portions already completed and others set for early operation.
A charming recital featured Miss Nene Gilbert of Donalsonville a 14 year old sensational singer with piano accompaniment by her instructor Mrs G Roberts. Baritone soloist Mr Marvin Mc Donald sang a delightful number with accompaniment by Miss Roberta Ritcher who also played a piano piece.
