Samos Reconnaissance Satellite On Tap

Eisenhower orders end to U2 flights as Samos reconnaissance satellites advance. First craft of a planned network could orbit within four months. Satellites will use Atlas missiles from Point Arguello to scan the earth and relay data to Allied ground stations.

Four Lane Highway From S C Border Toward Suwanee

ATLANTA AP Three miles of four lane Interstate 85 from the South Carolina border toward Suwanee will be built next by the Georgia Highway Department. The route through Lavonia was chosen to allow bridge construction across the Tugaloo River. Surveys are under way for the entire length and backwaters from Hartwell Dam rising, traffic to be diverted when the new bridges are ready.

Evangelist T L Lowery to Lead City Services

Evangelist T L Lowery begins the Lowery Salvation Healing Campaign in Thomasville this Friday at 2 30 and 7 30 p m daily through Sunday May 29 at the Thomas County Tobacco Warehouse. Gospel singer Herb Winegar will accompany each service. Lowery, a youthful evangelist, has lectured across the United States and in 16 foreign countries and invites all interested persons to attend.

Electric Trains May Be Transportation Solution

Atlanta Transit System may adopt electric trains within a decade and require another decade to implement. Transit Chief Robert Sommerville outlined a plan to move commuters from suburbs to downtown via rail on current tracks and showed a sketch of passengers transitioning from buses and trolleys to an enclosed escalator into an electric train. He said a mass transportation proposal would be released this summer.
