Medical Auditing Checks Patient Care at Archbold Hospital

Shrimp Season Closed Early by Texas Parks

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission voted to close the shrimping season May 17, two weeks earlier than usual, and may keep it closed for up to 60 days this year. Executive director Clayton Garrison cited rapid shrimp growth and movement toward the Gulf of Mexico around May 12 as the reason for the early closure.

Orkin hires Williams for Supreme Court appeal

William B. Orkin has retained Washington lawyer Edward Bennett Williams to handle his appeal of a conspiracy to murder conviction. Orkin and handyman Bobby Owen were convicted and sentenced to five years in prison in 1974 for conspiring to murder the husband of Orkin's former secretary. The state Supreme Court upheld the convictions. Orkin seeks a new trial in Georgia based on claimed new evidence.
