A foot injury delayed her preparations but doctors expect her to compete as she proceeds toward the finals amid attire and dress judging.

Thomas County 4-H Talent Contest Friday Night

The Thomas County 4-H talent contest will be held at the Ochlochnee School auditorium with curtain at 8 p.m. The top three 4-H performers represent the club in junior and senior divisions, about 45 entries expected including soloists and ensembles. Don Haswill serves as master of ceremonies assisted by Miss Ophelia Smith. Admission is 60 cents for students and adults. prizes await winners advancing to state and national levels.

The Actors Fund of America will construct a new facility in Englewood New Jersey for 40 retired performers. It will replace a 40 room frame building used since 1928 with capacity for 90 residents.

Park Memorial Planned For Edna Cain Daniel

A bronze and marble memorial marker and park planting will be dedicated in Quitman on Wednesday May 20 at 5 p.m. to honor Edna Cain Daniel editor and publisher of the Free Press who died February 21 1957. The memorial in Pine Top park on North Court Street is sponsored by the Dogwood Circle of the Quitman Garden Club with a public invitation extended for the ceremony.

Eleanor Frances Hughes daughter of Eleanor Hughes and Oscar Hughes of Thomasville wed Dr John Pierce Howland son of Edgar Howland and wife in Fort Bragg Chapel on May 2. Chaplain Judson Segars officiated with Judy Stoneburner as maid of honor and Drs Bain Lor ing Cornelius as ushers and best man. The bride, a Thomasville High and Emory Nursing grad, serves as second lieutenant at Womack Army Hospital. Howland, a Tufts and Illinois Dentistry graduate, is a captain in the Dental Corps with the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg.
