A report notes new rules require destroying unused blue tobacco and liquor tax stamps. The Treasury will end stamp use on cigarettes and barrels of liquor, switching to a return system and marking stamps as collectors’ items after June 24.

Georgia state plans new lawsuits to recover 141000 it says Baxley improperly received. Original suits were dismissed for improper drawing. State claims Baxley was paid 124178 in road funds for uncompleted work and 16605 in convict labor services unpaid by the state.
A six expert study commissioned by the National Education Association argues that American adults exploit youths natural rebellion and set new standards of toughness. It says delinquents reflect environment and modern life pressures rather than inherent badness, and calls for more research and emotional detachment by adults.
Dr Charles Jordan of Eatonton was arrested in Milledgeville on a charge of assaulting Atlanta Constitution reporter Jack Nelson during a Baldwin County Medical Society meeting. Nelson suffered no serious injuries and posted 500 bond. The incident surrounds ongoing Milledgeville State Hospital investigations and a medical board inquiry into local hospital operations.
Actress Doris Day cancels an East Coast personal appearance tour due to illness. A Columbia Pictures spokesman says Day became ill Saturday in Cincinnati and is suffering from mononucleosis, a blood condition causing weakness.
