Local folks Mrs J J Roberts remains ill and George W Hinson transacted business in Meigs.
Mr Anderson Brundage 84 died March 3 after a year of declining health. He lived in Pelham and is survived by his wife, one son Willie Brundage, five daughters, a brother, and many grandchildren. Funeral at Wilkes Heights with interment in Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers listed.
A large gathering attended the Wilkes home to honor a respected resident as Cairo Funeral Home oversaw arrangements. Floral tributes were abundant and the community paid their last respects to the beloved man.
Meigs Ga March 25 The children and grandchildren of MP D B Rolin gathered Sunday March 22 at his apartment for a family reunion. The event was enjoyed by those present though not all could attend. Attendees included Aubrey Rolin Mullins S C J D Rolin Dr Philips Fla Bernard Rolin and family Columbia S C Clinton Cooper Janice Yates Leland Cooper Pelham Maitland Yates and Austin Rolin Meigs.
Sugar rationing officials will meet in each of Georgia’s ten congressional districts during the first two weeks of April to plan registration for rationing books. School superintendents, county chairmen, and defense officials will attend. registration centers to open in April with high schools for commercial users and elementary schools for individuals in early May. Sites include Statesboro, Albany, Americus, Newnan, Atlanta, Macon, Rome, Waycross, Gainesville and Athens.
London March 25 Prime Minister Churchill disclosed that the Italian naval force which set out to attack a British Mediterranean convoy en route to Malta Sunday boasted one of the most modern and powerful battle ships afloat.
Churchill sent a congratulatory message to Rear Admiral P L Vian noting a British force of five light cruisers and destroyers while Italian reports claimed greater damage. The admiralty's early account said one Italian battleship was hit and denied broader Italian claims, confirming only one merchant ship sunk.
