Columbus Ohio police say Babhe Hatley a 46 year old states man was killed and his body found five miles from Pittsview Alabama. Fred J Potts 20 and Joseph C Russell 17 were arrested in Phenix City and held without bond. They allegedly drove Hatley’s truck and the body in the sedan’s trunk from Saturday night to Sunday morning visiting a girl friend and a radio program, then left the car with bloodstains. Hatley was shot three times and struck on the head with a blunt instrument.
The Midway, the largest warship ever built, moves to an outfitting berth at Newport News Shipbuilding to prepare for service with the U S fleet in a few months. It was christened yesterday at the dock and towed to James River where it will be docked near its pier. Navy official Artemus L. Cates notes the ship will carry a new aircraft system once in active service.
