Washington March 7 Checks on temporarily closed banks are being accepted for income tax payments if a diligent effort to furnish cash or post office money orders has been made. Taxpayers should file returns by March 15 and include cash or money orders if possible. If not, send checks. collectors will clear them if possible, otherwise new remittances may be required.
Atlanta March 7 Paul Doyal chairman of the state revenue commission announced the state will accept personal checks as well as money orders and cash for payment of state income taxes and for cigar and cigarette stamps. March 15 is the last day for filing both state and federal income tax returns. He said postal and express money orders would be accepted for automobile license tags but personal checks would not be accepted for tags.
Officials announce Calloway Mills will pay workers with $1 denomination scrip secured by government bonds. Scrip redeemable at face value in cash when the Federal Reserve Bank reopens. Munson Mills plans a cash payroll this week regardless of conditions.

Washington March 7 1933 A treasury regulation authorized clearing house associations to issue scrip or other exchange media beginning Friday against sound assets with pro rata distribution among creditors. Atlanta banks led by First National Citizens and Southern and Fulton National announce 9 am openings to handle new accounts under a presidential proclamation trust fund provision. Cash only for new accounts, deposits payable on demand, with scrip possible via Atlanta Clearing House if authorized.

The indictment charges two murder counts tied to Cermak and Roosevelt assassination attempts. Zangara claimed he missed his target due to a bystander woman.
A Miami guard received a wreath from the funeral train bound for Chicago. It was described as the first tribute of its kind since departure.
