In London the United States Britain and France announced a 45 000 ton battleship limit with 16 inch guns as a sequel to abandoning the 35600 ton unit of the London treaty. Alfred Duff Cooper said 45 000 tons is the lowest feasible figure despite Britain preferring less.
Telegram protests reach the Georgia Department of Agriculture as growers urge delaying tobacco markets beyond August 1. Signers J. J. Johnson Ben Galloway and T. V. Beard argue early opening harms curing and quotas, while local clubs note producers cannot predict sales under the agricultural administration act.
In Savannah on June 30 Mrs Nancy Aycock, wife of Bill Aycock, shouted in a murder trial that she killed Mrs Martha Sikes. The outburst followed a stern prosecution opening and drew the judge to restore order as she collapsed into spectators' arms.
A Buffalo judge ruled street cars are not vehicles under city law, allowing motormen to pass red lights without arrest risk. The decision cited an ordinance defining a vehicle as including a horse and every conveyance except a baby carriage a street car or a push cart.

Civil War veteran from Fenton Michigan, Bentley, recalls starting for Gettysburg 15 years ago and arriving today for the blue and gray reunion. He served as a private in the engineers corps of the Army of the Potomac and helped build the bridge used by the Union as the battle closed. Bentley quips, Better late than never.
Evanston Ill June 30 leaders of the three branches of Methodism in the United States met in the first joint session to chart unification. About 75 churchmen from the Methodist Episcopal Church South and the Methodist Protestant Church attended as Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes named committees to work out details. The plan would unite 8 000 000 members.
Fargo June 30 Gov William Langer concedes the Republican nomination for the North Dakota Senate to U S Senator Gerald P Nye as returns show Nye leading with 87 762 votes to 81 460 for Langer from 2 144 of 2 260 precincts. Langer's running mate John N Hagan leads Nye foe Thoresen for governor. Democratic senator race shows Nygaard 13 160 Halvorson 4 693 Johansson 1 359. governor race Moses 17 793 Rosenberg 1 213.
