Georgia mortgage relief slow as federal office opens
Atlanta June 27 There will be about twenty million dollars in Georgia mortgages eligible for relief under the new Home Owners Loan Corporation but cash may not reach borrowers until August. Georgia manager Frank Holden reports 1500 loan applications but says officials in Washington have not yet organized the agency. Offices are planned in Atlanta Macon and Savannah with an appraiser and attorney in each of Georgia's 159 counties. Regulations limit loans to homes valued at twenty thousand dollars or less and dated as of June 13 1933.
