A fragmentary church wedding notice notes Miss Paen and Mr. Lee as the couple, with apparent references to Glenn Dell Turn and Hiram Turner of Sava. Details are obscured but indicate an LDS or Baptist church context and Rebekah Lodge involvement.
Owen of Six Mile announces engagement to Paula Eloise Owens of Miami and son of James, formerly of Thomasville, with Furman University education. He recently completed a B A and is connected to Thomasville High School. Current occupation at Pleasant Hill Bap remains noted.
At Hand Memorial Methodist Church Pelham Miss Vonciile Parker Hand wed Theo Rumble in a candlelit ceremony. Officiated by Rev. Gus Jordan the event featured detailed bridal attire including a white satin gown with nylon tulle and Chantilly lace. Family members from Pelham Thomasville and Athens attended as bridesmaids and ushers.
Bridal event honors Miss Kathleen Farpe thrice-elect of Paul Reid with 30 guests present. Attendees include Mrs Vann Mesdames Minton Vann and J K Harper in a home setting with punch and roses on display. The couple plan Florida travels before settling in Thomasville where Mr Rumble joins The Bookstore.
Mrs. James C. Benningfield of Warner Robins announces the engagement of her daughter Janiece Eugenia Hardin to Lieut. David D. Mattison son of Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Mattison of Lamberton Minnesota. She is a Thomasville High School 1953 graduate and works at a local firm. He is a Lamberton High School graduate who attended Augsburg College and completed Aviation Cadet Training in Laredo Texas and is stationed at Moody AFB Valdosta. The wedding is set for July 28 at Dawson Street Methodist Church.
Val Hogue of Alexandria Virginia administrative secretary to Secretary of Defense Wilson visited his mother Mrs Jessie Sampson in Thomasville last week. They went to Twin Lakes to see his sister Mrs Dick Walden and he returned to Alexandria Friday. Also vacationing in Washington DC are Mr and Mrs Dick Ramsey and children Lynn and Richard planning a trip via Asheville and the Blue Ridge with an insurance conference for Mr Ramsey and visits to former Thomasvillians Mr and Mrs Dale Lindsey before returning by the coast via Williamsburg and Charlotte North Carolina.
Thomasville hosts 260 high school students for the Summer Youth camp at the University of Georgia with attendees from Georgia Florida and surrounding states. Dean's List honors go to Martha Alice Burton of Thomasville at Georgia State College for Women. Newport R I naval officer trainee Marvin Joel Podem arrives after Navy enlistment on June 5 following University of Georgia graduation.
Saturday admissions include Mrs L L Smithwick of Thomasville Milly Gall Nolen of Pavo and Mrs James E Hunt of Coolidge.
