Mrs. T. B. Blake 35 lay in Grady hospital in critical condition as her husband a Bellwood Prison guard and a companion were jailed on suspicion. Neighbors reported Blake assaulted his wife early this morning with a shotgun after entering the home. Police said both men were intoxicated. A shotgun with a broken stock was logged as evidence.
Representatives of American firms in Colombia organize the first foreign business luncheon club in Bogota with meetings planned at least twice a month. Forty five Americans attended the initial event.
Stock prices halted a four year quiet and delivered Wall Street a record 5 000 000 share day as the market corrected speculative excesses. The decline reflected in a 136 million dollar drop in brokers loans and followed a collapse in Scandary stock with high priced issues plunging up to 100 points.
Wilmington N C June 16 With more than 300 delegates from many states present the annual convention of the Southern Textile Association which began yesterday went into its final session at Wrightsville Beach today preserving a busy schedule and concluding activities for the year
The session began at ten o'clock with President I R Gilbert of Weldon presiding. Highlights included three talks by F W Jefferson of New York City PF MaGowan textile engineer and George H Emery NC Association of Certified Public Accountants secretary treasurer. The meeting will elect officers for next year and award medals and emblems.
