Ambulance Crash Near Thomasville Claimed Driver’s Control

An 1888 Oldsmobile ambulance owned by Dekle Funeral Chapel lost control on US 84 six tenths of a mile west of Thomasville. Trooper T Q Robinson said the vehicle was en route to a wreck three miles west, with driver Johnny Mack Butler 19 behind emergency lights and siren. He attempted to pull back in after passing when he lost control and hit a fence.

The Central Florida Future Farmers of America quartet Nelson Cooper Ronald Cheshire Donald Cheshire and Larry Phelps were to compete tonight in Covington at the FFA FHA camp state quartet contest. They earned top three district honors after winning district competition in Tifton to qualify for state. The state winner would advance to Tri state in July.

Thomasville Exchange Club at 40th State Convention

Thomasville Exchange Club members attended the 40th annual state convention in Albany. Delegates were Alex Crittenden and Winslow with alternates Jack Suddath and Robin Branda. The club presented 400 long stemmed roses to the president's ball attendees and received honors for the boy and girl of the year project and the Freedom Shrine dedication at the Thomasville Public Library.
