Mutiny of 229 Convicts Ends at Kansas Mine

At the Kansas State Penitentiary a four hour mutiny by 229 convicts in a coal mine ended with surrender. Warden M F Amrine refused concessions while guards used tear gas and machine guns to restore order. prisoners who would not work were called to the surface. The issue centered on silk underwear and bedtime snacks in the commissary.

Mother dies saving her child from car in Fitzgerald

Mrs. Frank Williams mother of five died after trying to snatch her three year old from an oncoming auto on the Fitzgerald-Broxton road. A twelve year old daughter witnessed the crash as the child ran into the road. the mother rushed to shield him, breaking the child’s leg but the boy was reported out of danger.

Forrest Turner to be moved to convict quarry
