Submarine painter creates undersea canvases in Brazil
American artist Zark Pritchard has lived two months on Paqueta Island near Rio de Janeiro painting underwater scenes for exhibitions in Paris and Brussels. He works at 25 feet in a diving suit, using oil-slick canvases that dry well in Brazil's climate, producing impressionistic depictions of fish, corals, and submerged formations. He plans a June 1 opening for the shows in Europe.
