Russian Czar Molded From Bricks Corey's Fort Work
James T. Corey, 59, Covington native and the National Park Service’s sole official bricklayer, endures aching knees and torn clothing while two years on a moat barge and 18 years on Fort walls. Known as the Russian Czar for his outfit, he has fought cold gear, nearly got stuck in a chimney, and relaid bricks to secure the fortress walkway since Christmas 1966. He presses on, taking pride in a lasting contribution.
