The Pavo swimming pool opened for the season with a new tower dive, recent painting, and planned clean-up and repairs. Jen Mathews will run the facility as the summer schedule limits hours on Monday for cleaning and sets afternoon hours Tuesday through Friday and weekend times.

Area obituaries note James Perry a native of Climax who lived in Atlanta for 30 years died at his apartment on Saturday. He belonged to Climax Baptist Church. Survived by parents Mr and Mrs B O Perry of Climax a brother Charles Perry a sister Miss Kaye Perry and grandmother Mrs J H Stewart all of Climax.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Mae Gray, 65, were conducted today at Calvary Baptist Church by Dr. Charles Bishop and Minister Carl Cooper. Burial followed in Oak City Cemetery with Weg Funeral Home in charge. Survivors include her son Kenneth Gray of Beinbridges, Ohio, and four grandchildren.
