Georgia liquor law enforcement hindered by public apathy
Revenue Deputy B I Gilbert told an alcohol industry meeting that public apathy toward prosecuting bootleggers and the patchwork of dry and wet counties in Georgia hinder enforcement. He noted the dry county system creates enforcement problems and that low income groups demand cheap liquor. He said Gov. Sanders and Commissioner Undercoffer are committed to strict enforcement and that some industry figures sought a green light to sell in dry counties.
