Mrs W J Bailey Dies in Macon Former Meigs Resident

Mrs Irene Vick Bailey of Macon died at a Macon hospital after a heart attack. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs L T Vick of Meigs and wife of W J Bailey of Macon. Surviving are her husband, a daughter Mrs Billy Houston of Macon, and a granddaughter Veeda Ann Houston. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Heavy industries dismantled in Dairen say Mukden dispatch

A Mukden dispatch reported by Ta Tang Pao said Chinese inspectors found most heavy industries at the Manchurian port of Dairen dismantled. Equipment was allegedly sent to the Soviet zone in Korea as war booty, with the remainder headed to Chinese Communists at Chefoo.

Meigs High School Graduates Hear Baccalaureate Sermon

Meigs Georgia on June 1 1947 saw Meigs High School host a baccalaureate service as part of the commencement exercises. The program opened at 8:00 pm in the school auditorium with a procession and various readings and a sermon by Rev U A Moss. Visitors from out of town attended the event which featured ornate decorations and a large audience.

Grady County Residents Take Free TB-VD Tests

Scores of Grady Countians have availed themselves of the free TB VD tests in the special health survey begun yesterday. Dr. Arthur W. Hill, health commissioner, announced the busy testing stations in Cairo and roving county sites are serving federal state and local participants.

Presbyterian Auxiliary meets in Donalsonville

The Donalsonville Presbyterian Auxiliary held a Monday afternoon meeting with 16 members attending. Mrs. G. B. Garwood led a prayer, L. W. Barber introduced the Bible study from Colossians 3, and the theme was I am my brother's keeper. Miss Aline Clayton, a Synodical worker, will teach a Bible course in June. all city church members are invited.
