Thomasville Board approves water lease and CAP aid plan
The Thomasville City Commission in regular session approved a lease of a 2853 foot water line to the City for ten years starting July 8 1957 and a $1 water line maintenance obligation. It also authorized a $2500 donation to the Thomasville unit of the Civil Air Patrol and leased Building Lot 2 at Campbell Street Airport for ten years. The board also readied a hand bill ordinance and settled a street damages claim up to $587.00.

Observers note tobacco prices are the highest on record this year with volume and quality below average. The Thomasville market led with top averages Monday and prices have stayed strong through the week, selling all tobacco brought in by 10 a.m. and approaching two million pounds in projected yearly sales.

Youth Shot During Teen Age Prank Near Ringgold
In Ringgold Georgia a 16 year old was shot in the neck during a prank by 22 youths who hid on a bank as a boy in girl clothes aimed to thumb a ride. Alvin Leon Scott 26 of Ringgold and Fred McDade passed and recognized the girl then Scott fired multiple shots in the air. Sheriff J D Stewart said the wound likely came by accident and Scott was arrested in 6800 bond then released.

Milledgeville State Hospital plans to return 231 young patients to their homes while the Powell building undergoes renovation. Superintendent Dr. T. G. Peacock says most are mental defectives under 18 needing custodial care and should not have been admitted. About 600 patients overall occupy the two Powell wings, with renovations estimated at 1% million dollars and expected to take nine months to a year.
