5000 Abandoned by GI Fathers on Saigon Streets
Washington AP reports welfare leader Welles Klein says about 5,000 American fathered children age infants to six in Saigon have been abandoned. 500 more live in Buddhist or Catholic orphanages. He notes 25,000 Vietnamese orphans, declining informal support, and racial bias against black-Vietnamese children. He urges US action and possible immigration liberalization.
