Mrs. Fred Feltham dies from a head injury after a car stalled on a railroad crossing near Boston on Tuesday. Her husband, son Parker, and daughter Alice suffer severe injuries while Parker is listed in critical condition.
Boston Ga July 18 Funeral services for Mrs Fred Feltham held at the Presbyterian Church this morning after she died from injuries from Tuesday morning crash when an Atlantic Coast Line passenger engine rammed a car. She did not regain consciousness and died about three hours later. Mr Feltham suffered a dislocated shoulder and a badly cut wrist but is recovering.
Kansas City July 19 The United States District Attorney warns farmers in small Kansas towns not to use court plasters recently sold by three men now under arrest suspected of spreading disease germs A large quantity of plasters has been seized and is under examination Investigators continue in several parts of the state pursuing every clue
The Weekly Press Association of Georgia meets in Thomasville with 150 delegates. J. C. McAuliffe introduces Judge J. Merrill. Hon. Methvin and Upshaw address the group as W. C. Woodall presents on the role of weekly papers. Sessions end with a reception, a dance, and plans to visit St Simons.
General Leonard Wood urged universal service and the Selective Draft to arm the nation for victory. He argued training and organization, warned against politics, and pressed every man to serve on battlefield, farm, factory, or support roles as the war effort intensifies. The audience in East Side School listened as Wood and staff departed for Albany to speak tonight.
Amsterdam reports the Berlin Tageblatt that a majority committee in the Reichstag has moved for a peace resolution after prior division. The maiden speech of the German Chancellor is anticipated today while Eastern Galicia sees ongoing military action. Petrograd claims and counterclaims show the war shifting as a firmer government stance is promised if needed.
The Selective Draft plan announced by Provost Marshal General Crowder requires every registrant to be drawn for examination in order, until district quotas are met. A master key method will determine drawing order, with numbers drawn from one to a thousand, and capsules used in a blind folded draw.
