Ottawa July 9 Harry Cooper of Chicago shot 75 in the Canadian Open third round for a 54 hole total of 219 and the early lead. Worton Smith of Oak Park Illinois posted 78 to sit at 225 total.
The Associated Press reports reactions from Ramsay MacDonald and Edouard Herriot. MacDonald says the settlement opens a new chapter and Europe must respond beyond Britain. Herriot voices France's rejoicing at the agreement.

Col Weston Jenkins 58 longtime detachment leader in the Lost Battalion rescue died at a tourist camp six miles west of Amsterdam after a sudden illness while en route from Rome to Albany. He collapsed at the camp and deteriorated overnight.

An 8:30 p.m. Union Evangelistic Service at the Baptist church and a Wednesday 8 p.m. mid-week prayer meet.

The July 9 acquittal of Hyman Horovitz on embezzlement charges led to a court room demonstration. Superior Judge Peter Q. Meldrim fined several spectators for contempt after they cheered as Horovitz was cleared. Horovitz had been accused of withholding market fees from the city treasury.
