May Weather Report Highlights Record May Rainfall
The Georgia Section of Climate and Crops released the May weather bulletin noting below normal temperatures in the middle and southern divisions with rainfall well above average. The north fared near normal. Camden, Jefferson, Nassau, Muscogee and Stewart counties reported over 10 inches, St. Marys 18.46 inches, a May record. Destructive hail hit Jefferson and Putnam, with ground buried in hail. Crop prospects were poor overall, cotton and corn lagged, sugar cane progressed, peaches fair to good, and mean May temperature lower than normal.

News from Thomasville reports the Atlantic and Birmingham has purchased the Tifton Thomasville and Gulf railway, a 139 mile line from Waycross to Montezuma. George Dale Wadley assumes general management with T T G and T N E oversight, while Myr. McFadden handles traffic. Through-trains to Fitzgerald planned with ACL tracks at Tifton. Local observers predict closer ties between T and G and possible Gulf extension in coming years.

Mr G A Hammond of Chicago died recently in Chicago after a long illness once living at Linton Han sell street. His wife and friends mourn his loss with sympathy. Capt John Ison aged 86, Confederate army veteran and respected Thomas county resident, died Wednesday and was buried at Bold Spring church. He leaves a wife and six children in Georgia and neighboring states.

Canine Euthanasia Prompted by Hydrophobia Case
Wednesday morning officer units responded to a hydrophobic dog incident. Officer Martin attempted to handle the situation but contact with the animal was unsafe. William Proctor and his new Winchester intervened to end the dog's life.

Excursionists Arrive on Florida Rate Train
About a hundred excursionists alighted from the 3 20 p m Atlantic Coast Line train Tuesday afternoon. Five extra coaches were added to accommodate travelers taking the ten day cheap rate from Florida. Most visitors were dark brunettes claiming Tampa as home. D A Denmark, popular Valdosta railroad man, is in the city.

At 10 30 Wednesday morning the Thomasville Guards returned from a week at Camp Northern in Griffin Georgia. Lieut Col T N Hopkins praised the camp as a fruitful experience with excellent conduct. Company K led by Lieut Brown and Capt Dismuke acting as major completed a strong drill showing.

Route Two Rural Free Delivery Starts In Thomasville
Thomasville now has two rural free delivery routes with Route Two commencing after Route One. The 23 mile circuit serves 510 people across 15 square miles and 102 houses, beginning at the post office and visiting J D Jones, Butler, Gandy, Nebo church, Chastain, and other points before returning to town.
