New York stocks edged higher at noon but faced growing resistance. The AP 60 average rose to 235.20 with gains in rails and utilities while Industrials slipped. the Dow stood at 6500.76 up 0.12. Investors took profits after recent advances as defense stocks rose on Kennedy defense build‑up orders.
Hog receipts at several Georgia packing plants end at 7 A M with steady to 25 cent lower prices and peanut fed hogs down. Chicago receipts show hogs steady to 28 higher with varied lot prices for 190 to 300 lb barrows and gilts. Georgia cattle auctions report mixed changes with steers and heifers up to 5 dollars higher and calves strong. stockers steady to higher and cows uneven by class.
Atlanta produce receipts show light trading with prices mostly steady. Cabbage 1.00 to 1.25 per bag, turnip greens 1.15 to 1.75, mustard greens 1.60 to 1.75, green onions 0.85 per dozen, collards 12 to 2.90, turnips 1.90 to 2.00 per dozen, pole beans 4.00 to 4.40 per bushel, yellow crookneck squash 4.50 to 5.00, cucumbers 2.50, fancy five dozen yellow corn 4.00 to 4.50, bell peppers 3.00 to 3.50, eggplant 2.50 to 3.75.
North Georgia Poultry notes spotty demand from fair to good with supplies clearing and occasional shortages. Prices today at farms 16-165 for broilers and fryers 3-4 lbs 16-17. hens heavy type 19-14 fob plants 20-21, light type 9-10 fob plants 11-13.
A mild, pleasant forecast shows a high near 68 today rising to 70 by Wednesday. Tonight’s low around 32 with light variable winds. Barometer at noon 30.41, slight drop. no significant precipitation noted. Temperatures for the month show modest activity and typical tides are listed for Wednesday.
Former Georgia Governor E D Rivers addressed the Cairo Grady County audience at the 35th annual Ladies Night dinner. He lauded local progress, praised community leadership, and urged Chamber of Commerce unity to meet civic goals. William H Mayo was installed as president, with Adron Rosser and John Wight named vice president and treasurer respectively. Dinner music accompanied by Mrs Tyson and a Home Economics class prepared the banquet.
More than 300 chiropractors from across the nation met in Albany at Radium Springs for a weekend symposium. Napoleon Hill led talks on professional obligations to modern society. Proceeds benefited the Kentuckiana Chiropractic Children's Center in Louisville.

Thomasville leaders announce a motorcade to Tallahassee on February 11 to attend Evangelist Billy Graham’s rally at Doak Campbell Stadium. More than 10,000 expected from Georgia Florida and Alabama with stadium capacity over 20,000. Choirs should arrive early for seating near the pulpit as Graham speaks.

Dr Council H Maxwell Grady 85 a practicing physician was named Grady County Man of the Year at the 35th annual Chamber of Commerce meeting. Former Gov E D Rivers presented a bronze plaque noting 60 years in medicine and more than 6 000 babies delivered. He is praised for lifelong service, keeping delivery records and continuing to make house calls.
U S ambassador to Leopoldville Clarke H Timberlake will join White House and State Department talks in Washington on a reassessment of Congo policy ordered by President Kennedy. The key issue is whether U N forces in the Congo can continue if African nations pull their troops in protest.

Attorney Gus Elliott appointed Receiver for the Jarrett Bank in Boston by Judge George R. Lilly of Thomas Superior Court. An immediate audit of assets and liabilities was ordered to protect depositors and creditors. The bank began July 1 1948 and had reported assets near 120 642.61 with 67 774.81 in savings when last published.
