The Associated Press average of 60 stocks at noon rose about one point as industrials, rails, and utilities advanced amid heavy trading. The Dow was up around 48 points at midday. In Atlanta, produce markets showed mixed pricing with several vegetables and fruits quoted across regional baskets.
Hog receipts across Alabama Georgia and Florida districts show mixed price levels with bid strength in Chicago and strong demand for calves and feeder stock in Gainesville. Specific ranges cover barrows gilts sows and various weight classes with notable gains in slaughter cattle and stocker calves in Gainesville markets.

Thomasville police say 26 year old B O Virgil of Route 1 Thomasville was caught hours after a Saturday afternoon collision at Fletcher and College streets. He fled the scene in a 1957 car belonging to Willie Hays. Virgil was released on 104 bond. Suspect found in closet at a Bay Street residence. both men Negro and no injuries reported.
A labor dispute stalls rail operations as marine unions led by Seafarers and allied groups press for staffing limits. After pickets gather at Cleveland terminals, the Central's Western division nearly shuts down while Eastern division actions continue. Management and unions agreed to defer staffing decisions until a White House study is finished next December.

Mitchell, born August 29 1878 in Thomas County, was a former cotton broker and citrus grove manager who retired after a long career with the Georgia Department of Agriculture. he is survived by his wife Mary Sheldon Jerger two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
President Kennedy moved to fill the Navy undersecretary post with Paul Fay Jr a 42 year old Republican aide from San Francisco. He also appointed a three member ethics and conflict of interest panel and named assistant secretaries of commerce. Fay helped in the campaign and had wartime service on a torpedo boat.
Services for John L. Fritz Roberts 58 industrialist of Thomasville were set for 3 pm at First Baptist Church with Rev. Louis F Kennedy and others officiating. Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery. Roberts headed Sun? land Packing Co. and related firms. He died after a Friday illness in Fort Myers Florida.

Officials at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh received $5 in an envelope postmarked Cleveland. The note says the payment is compensation for the time the writer visited the clinic on Center Avenue 30 years ago and thanks the hospital for its kindness.

Mrs. Louisa Vick Beckwith 69 died at Archbold Memorial Hospital after a weeklong illness. A 78-year-old Milwaukee man Leo Happel, once declared dead and later found alive at the county morgue, died Sunday at County General Hospital. Hospital staff cited a heart condition as the cause after he failed to regain consciousness following transfer from the morgue Friday night. Authorities noted he had throat cancer and speculated a heart restart may have occurred during an ambulance ride to the morgue.
