Some may be reexamined, but current policy does not anticipate future limited service drafts. If a man quits an essential job without permission, he could be drafted for limited service.

S Sgt Oswald McKown endures close tank fire and searing muzzle flashes in a foxhole. Brooklyn soldier Tony Fienda confronts German sentries with a captured pistol as he retreats to his lines.
The Associated Press reports no terminations before March 1 for several rationed items. Book four blue and red stamps, sugars, fats and oils, shoes stamps, gasoline and fuel oil are validated or extended with new dates. Next voucher series and validations are slated for late January to February.

In Lima Ohio a man pleaded guilty to assault and battery after a fight with a neighbor over noisy music. He told Judge J B Steiner the dispute began when he tried to stop the neighbor from playing, noting only scales and Three Blind Mice persisted. the judge suspended fines and gave a self defense suggestion of a saxophone.
Police report a woman held as material witness near Kasherman car after leaving a cafe. Kasherman had earlier been convicted of extortion by a jury in 1937, sentenced to up to five years, released on parole after nearly four years, for allegedly extorting $25 from a rooming house proprietor to stop publication of a story in his semi irregular newspaper. He said he was framed.
