Kiwanis International marks 49th birthday milestone

An area wide effort seeks delinquent employers of domestic workers. Letters were sent to housewives to inform them of social security tax reporting duties for maids cleaners ironers and other help. If pay reaches 50 dollars in a calendar quarter taxes must be reported.

P S Dixon Rises Held In Valdosta
Funeral services were held for P. S. Dixon 49 former United States Marshal for the middle district of Georgia and ex Georgia State Patrol head at Thomasville. He died Sunday of a heart attack while transporting federal prisoners from Valdosta to Americus. Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Dixon a Warwick native served as Tifton chief of police and was a WWII veteran and American Legion member.
