Mount Sterling Ky Jan 20 The court will decide tomorrow whether the German police dog Kaiser Bill Werman is to be put to death for killing sheep. Circuit Judge Prewitt delayed today due to a circuit judges meeting in Frankfort and is to issue a written decision tomorrow.
Hanover N H Jan 20 Hug Bezdek Jr Dartmouth College student who had been missing was found with his mother in New York. They planned to depart for State College Pa immediately, information provided by KH K Hall football rules committee head and Bezdek family friend.
Mr T A Hanson of this city sustained an arm injury when a timber protruding from a truck at Hansen struck his elbow as he drove by. He was taken to Meigs for medical aid and later treated at the hospital.
James H. Corbett of Utica New York father of missing Alice Corbett offered any help in the search for Frances St John Smith a freshman at Smith College who vanished on a Friday the 13th. He noted the prior disappearance of his daughter in November 1925 and reminded investigators that his $1000 reward remains on deposit in Northampton.
In Panama City Florida seven men drowned yesterday when a caisson under construction for a bay bridge sank. Divers raised the caisson but the bodies were not found by late today. Officials believe the men may be buried in the bay mud.
Georgia officials closed the state capitol from 11 to 12 today to honor Oscar R. Bennett, vice chairman of the Public Service Commission. The funeral was held in Eastman, Ga, with offices of the Public Service Commission and state officials attending.
Assistant Attorney General Mabel Willebrandt endorses Representative Stalker’s Republican bill to tighten the Volstead Act with fines up to 10 000 dollars and imprisonment up to five years for illegal liquor transport or sale. The Volstead Act currently carries six months in jail or a 1000 dollar fine. Also noted a medical case where surgeons advised amputation but it was not performed.
Atlanta visitors Mr E W Brooks and Mr J I Hodges drop business calls while Albany and Chicago guests arrive for short stays. Bosch Radios and RCA Victrola displayed at Cocroft's. President William T. Cosgrave of the Irish Free State reached New York amid police escort and protester removals at Battery Park. About three thousand officers lined the route to City Hall where Mayor Walker greeted him on behalf of six million residents, many with Irish ties.
Prominent Forsyth furniture dealer and churchman A L Abernathy was killed when his auto was struck by a through train at a crossing near the depot. A second passenger died and his wife and two children survive.
Memphis Tenn Jan 20 Travis Jackson New York Giants shortstop was here today arranging his marriage on Tuesday to Mary Blackman of Waldo Arkansas. Jackson and Miss Blackman live in Waldo across the street from each other.
Warren Mays tops the Tombstone Tournament at Glen Arven Country Club with 76 strokes and a four handicap, edging Pete Alderman who shot 92. The event uses tombstone placements marking finish points as players’ strokes run out, attracting 30 plus entries amid light rain.
Mr. Wallace Neel proprietor of the W H Neel Sales Company on East Jackson street says he has secured the local agency for Bremer Tully radio sets. The Bremer Tully firm has produced radios for six years and is noted for high quality. An advertisement from Bremer Tully appears elsewhere in this issue.
The Standard Oil service station at Broad Street and Gordon Avenue opens tomorrow under manager Campbell W Aneley. A grand opening offer gives one gallon of Standard Motor Oil free with five gallons or more of Crown or Ethyl gasoline. Arthur Clarke, district representative, hails the new facility and expects strong business.
