Seminole County Home Demonstration Council officers and project chairmen launched the 1967 program at an all‑county meeting in Donalsonville. Mrs. Vada Spooner of Iron City was installed as president. other officers included Mrs. D L Nixon and Mrs. James Swanher. Thirty seven members attended.
Dan Minchew 17 of Baxley and Dorothy Dozier 19 of Appling received 4-H Leadership program honors from the University of Georgia for outstanding character and service. Minchew completed records on 45 projects and has six years in 4-H. Dozier has seven years in 4-H and is cited for her leadership development.
Judy West 16 of Moultrie tops state 4-H Entomology with 81 insects in her collection. She earns a trip to the National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago, expenses paid by Hercules Powder Co. West completed 18 projects, made 67 exhibits and 52 demonstrations, and gave radio and television talks. Janet Johnson 17 of Talking Rock wins top Dress Revue honors and travels to Chicago for Congress with Simplicity Pattern Co. prize support.
A Dallas Texas Post Office clerk in the dead letter office notices mishandled correspondence. His wife’s delivery to him while traveling sparked the discovery that letters, including hers, were destroyed with other undeliverable mail. He learns of the issue only after his wife mentions not receiving his letters.
A Georgia girl and her companion earned the 1956 State Achievement award, one of the highest honors in 4-H Club work, recognizing outstanding leadership and service in club activities.
The Georgia Duroc Breeders Association hosts its tenth annual winter show and sale at the Lowndes County Livestock Auditorium in Valdosta on January 20, with show beginning at 10 A M and sale at 1 P M. Dr R F Sewell of the University of Georgia oversees judging. Sixteen breeders consign fall gilts and breeding stock, and a business meeting plus annual banquet are planned for January 28.
Georgia lawmakers plan to curb Japanese textile imports despite a Tokyo offer to cap exports. The Japan Export Council proposed no more than 295 million square yards annually if the U S addresses discriminatory state laws. Georgia legislators also push signs warning Japanese textiles sold here.

In City Court D Preaton admitted he was drunk and unfit to be on the streets. He turned himself in and the judge, Beverly Boushe, dismissed the charge noting the unusual lack of denial or excuse.
An AP report describes Harold in Dothan being found by police after an overturned bakery delivery van spilled cherry pies. The scene resembled a plasma case with apparent gore but the subject was only shaken up.
Pris cilla Welch 16 of Eatonton and Proctor Jones 16 of Twin City won top state honors in the 4-H Public Speaking program. Priscilla spoke at 22 local county and district contests and 21 talks to 4-H and other groups. her winning state speech was delivered 10 times beforehand. Proctor chose How Leaders Are Helping 4H Members in My Country and earned a 19 jewel wrist watch as state prize.
Georgia Farm Bureau leaders met in Atlanta for the first quarterly session of the year. H. L. Wingate attended a Washington briefing on USDA Soil Bank operations and predicted changes. County and state committees announced plans, with a March Presidents Conference at Rock Eagle 4-H Center and proposals to Congress on agriculture including Soil Bank corn program issues.
Econom ist Stephen J Brannen of the University of Georgia Extension Service says 1957 should bring generally improved farm conditions with strong demand and modest price gains for some products. Higher production costs and industry prices are noted, but fertilizers may drop per unit.משך

Otis Turner Jr of Colquitt county wins first prize with 141.1 bushels per acre at 32 cents per bushel. The program by South Central Georgia Area 4-H Club rewards top producers across Worth, Colquitt, Tift, Lowndes, Cook, Thomas and Brooks counties with fertilizer aided yields and close plant spacing.
The Weigh A Day A Month dairy record plan, launched by the Agricultural Extension Service and the U S Department of Agriculture, targets nine out of ten Georgia dairymen who do not keep records. Sid Diamond of the University of Georgia explains the low cost system, already operating in Meriwether, Troup, Jenkins, and Burke counties, and backed by national farm groups.
