Boy Rescued From Swamp Near Valdosta After 18 Hours
A 12 year old boy Donnie Shiver was lost chasing a rabbit into a swamp near Valdosta. He was spotted by Moody Air Force Base rescue helicopter after about 150 people conducted an all night search. He said he rode a bicycle and carried a shotgun when the rabbit disappeared. His worried parents feared kidnapping when the bicycle was found near woods edge.

Valdosta Man Pays Reward After Angus Calf Butchering
Lewis McLane reported to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office that a black Angus calf was butchered on his Copeland Road farm. He offered a $100 reward for information leading to the apprehension of the culprits. The meat was found hauled to a waiting vehicle after being placed on a sled.

Pearl German an elderly Adel nursery operator died in Valdosta from burns after her nightgown caught fire Sunday in the nursery. Police said she ran through the building spreading flames as the fire department fought the blaze which left the nursery a total loss.
