Senator George of Georgia argues that landowners who operate farms through sharecroppers should be included under social security, contending a 1854 amendment intended coverage for farm operators. He cites IRS rulings and a Health, Education and Welfare stance that landowners renting real estate are excluded. He says Georgia recognizes the landowner supervising a sharecropper as a farm operator.

Johnson, defense attorney for three segregation groups enjoined over school interference in Hoxie, Ark., said he will file a brief. Johnson mailed notice of the appeal while Cook’s Atlanta office said he was out of the city.
ATC spokesman said the recruit received a monthly pay of 804 dollars and a recalled six month active duty rate of 1294 dollars per month. After a 500 dollar forfeiture deduction, the total was 2440 dollars in his favor.
Meigs voters re elected Mayor Jim Bozeman Tuesday with no opposition. Incumbent councilmen Douglas Summerford and Mack Palmer were reelected unopposed, and Billy Hickey filled the vacancy from Joe Eingletary’s resignation. City officials now include Summerford Palmer Nelms E Lee Raiford and Hickey.
