Youth Held In Sunday Gun Slaying
A 14-year-old boy is in county jail awaiting a preliminary hearing after the shotgun death of Willie Willard 17 of Barwick. Deputy C A Rehberg said the youth tied to the case claimed the gun misfired after he loaded a shell, then fired at Willard’s head. Two witnesses support his account and a hearing is expected within two days.

A 21-year-old Pavo man Roy Cannon is jailed on an assault with a deadly weapon charge after his 57-year-old aunt Lee Knowles Simmons was beaten with a hammer. C. E. Wildman 91 longtime Thomasville resident died late last week in a North Carolina nursing home. Burial was in Charlotte beside daughter Edith Grace Harrell. Mrs Wildman also buried in Thomasville. The Wildmans were active in First Presbyterian Church and he had built a calendar and novelty business before losing his eyesight.

He was a native of Alabama came to Cairo 11 years ago from Folkston Ga. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Addie Wadsworth Tim Hall two daughters Mrs Earl Crews Mrs Walter Haggett one sister Mrs BE Bone and five grandchildren.

Huge moonshine operation busted in Southwest Georgia
Federal and state agents destroyed a large illicit whisky factory near Attapulgus and arrested two Havana men for possessing whisky and operating a moonshine still. Officials say 180 gallons of whiskey and 3 600 gallons of mash were seized from a five 1 800 gallon setup. the site was dynamited after arraignments, with bonds set at 1000 dollars.
