Thomasville area report shows only about one quarter of auto owners bought the new license plate decal this year far below 2023 totals. Tax Collector W S Stewart notes confusion over the decal limited to a small sticker and some residents misplace or mishandle it.
Tom Strealdorf, principal at Thomasvi School, resigned today effective June 30 as the yearly contract expires. The move follows the board action last month not to renew Superintendent Garfield W. Wilson and comes after Strealdorf announced at a faculty meeting and delivered a written resignation to Board Chair Thomas K. Vann.
President Nixon and his wife depart from Andrews Air Force Base aboard the Spirit of 76 for a historic trip to China. He hopes talks will reduce future war risk while acknowledging remaining U.S. China differences. About 1,000 area students gathered on the White House South Lawn for the departure.
