Bittersweet divorces hit POW families after release
The first group of POWs freed from Vietnam era camps includes two wives who divorced their husbands and a third who began separation talks. Tulsa Air Force captain Garland Kramer’s divorce was granted in 1972 on incompatibility grounds, with his father contesting it. County Sheriff Report Totals 1972
The report lists 66 simple assault warrants processed and 2,330 court summons issued in 1972. It notes 51 traffic violations handled, 67 mental cases, five transportation and possession of illegal alcohol cases, nine auto thefts, 61 other theft arrests, three whiskey still raids, six warrants for illegal spirits, 11 bastardy cases, and miles traveled totaling 121,912. The office collected $51,169.85 in back taxes.
Balance of Payments Narrows For 1972
The deficit in the nations balance of payments narrowed in the fourth quarter and for 1972 as a whole though still large. Commerce Dept cites calmer exchange markets after the British pound move as improving official reserve transactions. Net liquidity balance worsened from 4.5 to 4 billion in Q4.
