Atlanta February 7. Keith Morgan of New York national chairman of the Presidents birthday celebrations will receive 63000 from Georgia as the state's part in the drive against poliomyelitis. Governor E D Rivers made the presentation at a banquet of 309 Georgia leaders in the celebration Morgan attended.
William Curry of Athens Georgia won the best all round weight lifter trophy at the mid-south AAU meet in Atlanta. Curry set a southeastern AAU record with a two hand snatch of 200 pounds in the 181 pound class as nine southeastern records fell. Leon Greene's Weightlifting Club of Chattanooga won the team title with 19 points. Kare Whitfield announced the all-south meet will be held in Chattanooga in May.
Atlanta February 7 The State Board of Education will begin March 14 selecting books for elementary school libraries. Dr M D Collins state superintendent said $100 000 is set aside from the textbook fund for the program this year.
