Maynor to be given preliminary hearing in death case
Summerville, Feb. 5 AP Thomas O. Maynor 22 will be given a preliminary hearing tomorrow on murder charges in the death of 10 year old Claude Evans sheriff A H Glenn said. A shotgun blast ripped through the front door as the boy approached Maynors home. Evans died in Chatooga county hospital Tuesday night. Maynor told coroner jury he was loading a shotgun to go hunting. The gun discharged accidentally and fired through the door.

Lakeview coach faces Klan threat with ready guns
In Lakeview Georgia on Feb 6 AP reports coach Walter Bowland and principal John Burks faced a Ku Klux Klan threat after a gym altercation with a student. Hooded Klansmen burned a cross in front of Bowland's home, his wife defied it, and Bowland prepared firearms while Burks warned Bowland to leave town. Sheriff Jim Moreland refused protection. Bowland says he will shoot if the Klan returns.
